If your '88 is like my '85, getting the compressor out is NOT fun...
the engine compartment simply wasn't designed for all the stuff that
ended up in there by the '80's.

If you decide to try to take the compressor mount out, plan on
spending a few hours cursing (in Italian, or it doesn't work). It's
just in an awfully awkward position.

I don't have a clue what it would take to get the passenger
compartment components out... I'd save that job until I had to tear
the dash out for something else.

Speaking of which - does anyone know an easy way to install the three
gauges (fuel, oil and water termp) quickly and easily? I have the
little clips on the back, but for the life of me can't figure out how
to slide them in from the front - they always seem to interfere with
their neighbor's mount. So now I have them all mounted at a jaunty
angle (works perfect when I drive with my head slightly cocked).
