Yep - You're correct.  An interesting device but it will not work on the 
Alfa 156 and probably other cars where the power to the cigarette lighter
is 
removed when the engine is off.

How about gluing it to the 156 bonnet and cutting a huge access hole to
get 
straight to the battery!!   LOL
