Don't forget the £300 VED you're going to have to find next year, and the 
£310 the year after... and that's at current rates.

The 48K service is only checks and filters.  Whereabouts are you,  there's

likely to be a specialist in your area that could bring that service (with

cambelt) in for less than £500

If you're in the South-East I've heard good things about Rusper Alfa

Don't ignore it, however much the service is it'll be far less than the 
consequences of a belt/tensioner that's let go.
