Hi all
Anybody got any ideas - it's doing mine and my garage's heads in...
2005 156 S****twagon 1.9 JTD 16 valve manual
I'm getting a vibration that seems to be originating from the front
passenger side when the car is under load, most noticeably in 3rd gear
upwards. It is accompanied by a lower resonance hum (not transmission
whine), that at lower speeds is hardly distinguishable from road
noise. Both the judder and noise disappear if I ease off the throttle.
It on'y really seems to kick in as the engine gets up to operating
speed.
My garage (not an Alfa specialist), can't find anything - checked
wheel bearings, wheel balance, tracking, driveshaft play, loose engine/
gearbox mountings, but can't find anything untoward.
I spoke to Mangoletsi - not because I'm anywhere near them, but I've
heard good things about them. Anywhere the mechanic there reckoned it
was only likely to be a couple of things, either deformed tyres or
driveshaft play, both of which have been ruled out by my garage.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Charlie
