Only a couple of weeks since I was crowing about getting 40mpg out of the
156 1.8TS, now the bloody EOBD light has come on.
Seems to be running OK, I read that if it's fla****ng there are more
serious
problems.
I found that 2 of the 3 airbox lid bolts were sheared off, and the third
bolt hole on the lid had now broken leaving the fixing bolt in the hole in
the body of the airbox, but the lid now completely loose and the filter
visible.
Would this cause the EOBD light to come on?
FYI I removed the airbox ( had to remove the battery tray first), prised
out
the old bolts/fixings and fitted self tappers. Not a bad job. Now then,
should the EOBD light go out on its own or does it need to be reset.
Before I started this my friendly independent plugged in a diagnostic tool
and came up with P1177//P1178, searches seems to indicate that this points
to a failed/failing MAF, however i don't want to be shelling out £100UKP
unneccessarily.
The battery was disconnected for well over 45 mins which I understand
performs an ECU reset, should this not put the EOBD light out if the
problem
has been cured, or is the fact that it's still on suggest that it more
likely to be the MAF.
Best price I've found for a genuine Bosch (0281 002 309) is £102 delivered
from www.airmassmeters.com, any others out there?
Many thanks
Alan
