I've had the MAF out this morning and given it a good clean with 
Isopropanol, bit sluggish at first but soon settled down to normal.  Got
my 
Indy to reset the codes/light and has remained off for the short trip
home.

My man also mentioned the airbox lid problem causing premature MAF
failure. 
Bit **** those airbox bolts ain't they?  Bizarrely the 2 bolts in the lid 
that secure the fixing bracket are perfectly OK and there's no need to
ever 
undo them, yet the buggered 3 would have been in/out at every service.

We shall see, if the EOBD light comes on again I'll bite the bullet and 
shell out for a new MAF.
