Back in 1999 when I bought my 146 Junior I seem to remember spending
some time
haggling to get the price right.
Now 93000 miles later I am being sorely tempted by the special edition
GT Cloverleaf.
Although there is nothing major wrong with my 146 and it is in daily use
it seems to be worth
only around £500 as a trade in.
I have cash available to purchase GT and my local independent has
offered to sell my 146 from his forecourt
so am looking at ways of getting best cash discount.
Am focussing on GT Cloverleaf 1.8 TS list price £19k.
Have looked at Broadspeed .com and their price is 17.3k and their fee is
£300 so car costs 17.6k.
It looks like they have nothing in stock so one has to wait 12 weeks for
delivery.
Then tried Askaprice.com who allegedly have sellers lining up for my
custom.
This turned out to be Perrys of Aylesbury who phoned me and asked what
price I wanted to pay.
I said as near to £17k as poss to which they replied that they did not
have nearly enough commission
in the sale to do that.
When some months ago I looked at the GT Blackline and asked for a cash
discount I was advised
that special editions did not have enough commission to offer a discount.
Is there anyone who can advise me what price I might achieve for this
intended purchase ?
How much does an Alfa dealer make on a vehicle sale ?
Can anyone recommend Broadspeed or another broker ?
All advice gratefully received with thanks.
