I agree with John, but the OP says that both upstream sensors are bad, and
this sets off the alarms in my head. It is possible for both sensors to
fail
at the same time, but I'd be thinking that there is something that is
common
to them from the perspective of the rest of the system that is setting
them
off.
My theory on this one is that the sensors are properly re****ting a
condition
that is out of spec, and that there is a repair needed other than
replacing
the sensors. Having said that, a '97 should need new stuff about now ...
