I still have nightmares, cold sweats, and and an eye twitch from the 
last time I replaced an HT4100 water pump. And that was on a REAR-drive 
Cadillac (94 Coupe de Vile... mis-spelling intentional) over 10 years 
ago.  I can't imagine how over-complicated GM might have made it on a 
transverse version. Or maybe its easier, NOTHING is intuitive with 80s 
GM products.

But patience and a GOOD service manual are the keys to success. You had 
to do some nutty stuff that you wouldn't normally expect on the 
rear-drive version (my favorite example: removing the power-steering 
pump pulley  from the pump shaft with a puller in order to gain access 
to a pair of water pump bolts behind the pulley- which wouldn't have 
been necessary if GM had just used a spoked pulley instead of a solid 
disc pulley!) But its all spelled out in the manual so that if you 
follow the procedure, you'll get it done.
