T4 and T5 should handle the same amount of torque - which is a lot
less than you're putting into it. It will last for a while if you're
careful. Sounds like you probably won't be. I've blown up a few T5's
so I can tell you first hand that it will not handle a 350. The later
"world class" models were a bit better but still not up to it. Forget
a T5 from any other application. Even if you can make it fit, other
models use a smaller input shaft. You'd need a clutch disc from a
2.8L.
The T10 swap would be strong enough, but where are you going to mount
the torque arm? You could weld up something to the cross member, but
it really belongs on the tailshaft housing. And what about
overdrive? Gas prices make rolling around at 3500RPM expensive.
You really need a T56. It's strong enough, and it's a 6-speed. With
the right choice of parts it's a bolt in swap and prices have come way
down in recent years.
