'08 convertible

by "Fred G. Mackey" <do@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 10, 2007 at 10:51 PM

Has anyone besides me checked this out?

I looked at the trunk space while the salesman told me (with a straight
face - I'd like to know what kind of drugs he was on) that there was
enough room for 2 golf bags.

It looked like you could maybe fit ONE golf bag in there, but then again
I also felt like screaming at him "Do I look like a fucking golfer?"

No offense to anyone who plays golf.

It was not that cool that the trunk comes up to accomodate the top. I
was so distracted by that thought that I didn't notice how they managed
to get rid of the latches.

The lack of latches was appealing as I paid $250 (or so) to replace one
on my '01 when all that broke was a very tiny piece of plastic, but just
think how much it's going to cost when the trunk mechanism goes all
Chrysler on you ($500? $1000? - I'm sure I'm thinking too low).

I heard the '08s were 3 inches longer, thus giving more room in the rear
seat. (I think I heard that on Motorweek) It sure didn't look any bigger.

The hard-top convertibles still aren't out yet and that's what I really
wanted to see, but what I did see didn't impress me at all.

It seems they made some changes just for the sake of making changes.
Those cup holders in the back seat, for example. The dealer I visited
only had one in stock and it had an analog clock where mine has the trip
computer (which shows MPG, DTE, Driving Time, etc...)

I can wait a little longer and check out other options before I buy a
new car.
