I own a 1989 Ford 150 Econoline Van. It had been sitting in a feild for 5
years when I bought it, so naturally it come with a share of problems. The
one I am confused on fixing is this; Driving fine for miles when it just
dies. I wait 20 to 40 minutes and it starts right back up like nothings
wrong. That is how it started anyway. Months later one night it decides
not to start again for several hours. While investigating under the van I
find a cup in the middle of the fuel line which screws on and off. I pull
it off fill it with gas and wouldn't you know there we go, it worked. The
problem? As time goes on it dies more and more frequently. I find my self
as of yesterday putting fuel in the cup every 2 miles until I get home. A
nighmare in itself. Any suggestions? Anyone know exactally what the cup
is? My guess maybe condensation cup or some kind of pressure regulator?
Does it tie into my fuel injection? If I eliminate the cup by running the
fuel lines together will it only worsen the problem? HELP Please!! It is
the only vehicle I have and I dont have the money to take it to a shop.
Normally I can fix just about anything on a van but this one has me at a
loss. Can anyone out there help me?
