if the van has only one fuel tank you may have a faulty fuel pump in the
tank. the cup used to have a filter in it.should be replaced.get it at
your local ford dealer.89's may have a fuel pump on the drivers side frame
ahead of the cup you describe.if so,that is the high pressure pump and the
tank utilizes a low pressure pick-up pump to prime the high pressure
pump.either could be bad and cause similar symptoms.if no frame mounted
pump then high pressure pump is located in the tank.
