Seems to me that there was a carburetor (remember those things) back in =
the 40's that heated the gasoline so that a vapor rather than a liquid =
spray was pumped into each cylinder. The efficiency was supposed to be =
very good, although it was only a few percent better - never 50%. The =
downside was the possibility of it exploding, which apparently happened. =
I don't remember the name, but it never caught on.
