65 Mustang

by "ReddDawg" <jwp@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 25, 2006 at 08:40 PM

I know - a little off topic but it sits next to my wife's 67 Cougar.
:-)

Just got the car - it was a good buy. Needed a few little things -
plugs, wires, carb rebuild, master cylinder, etc. Got it all back
together and it fires. Runs good for a few short minutes but then idle
goes to crap. Playing around with it I pulled the PCV line off.
Dramatic idle improvement. Hooked the line up and pulled the valve out
of the cover. A little improvement but not much. Pulled the valve off
the vacuum line and marked improvement. Put it back on the line and put
my finger over the end. Very much like the idle with the PCV in the
valve cover - maybe a little worse.

It is a 200 inline 6 with an Autolite 1100 carb. The valve is fed from
a plate just under the carb - all looks factory but this one has me
puzzled. Any ideas what is contributing to this?

 Thanks
