The Outlander should be considered a very capable "all-road" vehicle, not
an 
off-road vehicle.

The Outlander that won its class in the Paris-Dakar is only slightly
similar 
mechanically to the one you get from the dealer.

If the fi****ng road is so bad you'd have to be crazy, you run the risk of 
getting stuck, despite 4WD.  Consider getting two diagonal wheels in the
air 
on a hump. Without a rear LSD, or perhaps low range, you won't be going 
anywhere except on foot.
