If by "cracked at the base" you mean the piece at the top of the fender,
that is also a separately available part.
If you damaged the mast itself, take off the ring at the base of the
antenna
(can be done with a needle nosed pliers, but its easier with a wrench made
for the purpose). Turn on the radio and it will puke out the mast. Pay
attention to the orientation of the teeth on the gear string as it comes
out. Insert the new mast into the hole, get a helper to turn the radio
on,
then off & the motor will pull in the new mast when the radio is turned
off.
Be there to guide the mast as the radio pulls it in. If it doesn't go all
the way down on the first try, quickly turn the radio on & immediately off
before it can move very much & it will pull it the rest of the way in.
Replace the nut (ring) and you're done. The mast usually costs in the
neighborhood of $40 US.
