1996 Maxima A/T Slip DTC

by txe5502@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Nov 14, 2007 at 03:57 PM

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with an automatic transmission and I got a
check engine light. I checked for trouble codes, and I got one that
said "Gear 1 ratio incorrect", which I later found out can indicate
your transmission is slipping if it is an automatic. I cleared the
code, and it keeps comming back. The transmission does not seem to be
slipping, but I am still worried. I found out there is a test called
a stall test that can be performed by holding the brakes and reving
the engine with it in gear, and I fully understand how this works
because I study hydroelectric dams and have researched francis
turbines. The problem is I don't know the correct stall speed for my
torque converter, so if anybody knows the correct stall speed for the
torque converter on this car, please tell me.

Thanks,
T. Guy
