Knock Sensor relocation ??

by "WildBill66" <wild@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 15, 2006 at 03:28 AM

The knock sensor is bad on my Z-32 and I've read a couple of posts on
another site that suggests relocating the sensor to a drivers side head
bolt.
http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=786419

Anyone ever done this or heard of it done without any issues. The author
of the post does alot of engine work himself. Also read a thread about
jumping the sensor with a 1 meg-ohm resistor which reads like a bad idea =
no protection and kind of a mickey mouse approach.

Also read that the wiring sub harness sometimes will have wire breaks or
corrosion. Gonna get a new harness regardless, so that's one option.

I ordered the part for $120 from BuyNissanparts.com, cheapest price I've
seen so I've got a few days before the dreaded decision.
Also considered dropping the 5speed tranny and reaching the sensor that
way.

10 hours of work or a short cut, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
