Just to let you know, it's fixed.

There were two problems. The vacuum valve that controls the turbo was
duff and the elbow connecting the vacuum pipe to the servo actuator
was split.

Perhaps I won't bother getting another 405 just now. I'll see how
reliable this thing turns out to be.
