993 Steering issue

by aidanblest@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Aug 29, 2007 at 04:35 AM

Hello,

I have a 1997 993 Carrera S. About a week or so a go, I hopped into my
car and started driving.
The steering instantly felt heavy and tight, as though there was some
resistance in the mechanism.

I immediately took the car to my local Porsche dealership to have it
checked out. The result of that is that there isn't anything
wrong with it. They performed and alignment as a precaution.

I picked up the vehicle today and the steering feels exactly the same,
tight and constrained.
It was previously very responsive and agile (as I'd expect).

I have checked my tyre pressures and they are all ok so what else
could this be? The power steering mechanism is working
so what else could be causing the resistance?

I did have the steering wheel removed a few weeks ago by the same
Porsche Service Centre so the instrument cluster
could be removed to replace a bulb. Could that have anything to do
with it?

Any assistance / tips would be greatly appreciated.

Aidan
