rudi - the car you are looking at has mechanical fuel injection - I just
sold a big stack of manuals on e-bay and I looked over them a bit before I
sold them - it looks like a real nightmare to keep working - I think
looking
at a later electronic fuel injection would be a good idea
or, since you work on your beetle, see if you can find a 912 - it has a 4
cyl much less complex engine, will get better mileage, but looks just like
the same year's 911. Or, get a 356, which is mechanically very much like
the beetle, though all the parts are made much better.
as for hte 944- I have a 993 and I keep several 944s running - I actually
prefer the 944 as a driving around car, though the 993 is hugely faster -
don't understimate the 944 - the 928 is a much bigger and heavier car, not
to my liking.
