Well, my 1985 3.2 Carrera can no longer reach its textbook top speed
(which I think is 156mph) - it tends to top out around 145. Of course,
I have never done this on UK roads, no sir, only on the autobahn, yes
sir.
But it still packs a mean 0-60 despite its age. It's hard to measure
tenths of a second but it's still around the 5-second mark, which is
what it says on the tin (5.3s I think). I love doing this to new
passengers, who aren't expecting any significant pu****ng into their
seat.
I've had it since 2000, and it isn't noticeably slower than it was
then. I have no idea if it ever could reach 156mph. It is a targa; not
sure if that has anything to do with its top speed, but it makes a
hell of a noise.
