Since my original post I've been doing a bit of Google research and
indeed, 
the turbo is supposed to be a "beefed up" version of the standard 
transmission.  The problem is apparently with the sychro gears not 
completely engaging and leading to wear.  For some reason it is more 
prevalent in 2nd gear than in any other.  There is no problem ****fting
into 
second, either on the up****ft or down****ft.  It just pops out of second 
during de-acceleration.

Fortunately, I was told by the ****sche dealer****p that it will be fixed 
under warranty. (whew!)   I know it didn't happen on my watch because it 
exhibited the "pop out"  the day I purchased and picked up the car and the

salesperson who drove it before I picked it up confirmed that it happened
to 
him as well.

I drive it like an old lady anyway.
