83 944 - Driver Side Cooling Fan Doesn't Turn Off

by York <Notchapuss@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 12, 2007 at 04:16 PM

Hello!

A few nights ago, I noticed that my fan was not tuning off even after
running for an extended period of time after shutdown. Fearing that
it would drain my battery if it ran all nite, I disconnected the
battery. The next morning when I reconnected the battery the fan
started right up again despite the fact that the engine was obviously
cold. I used my 944 the next few days and it seemed as if the fan was
always on (driver side exclusively) so I continued to disconnect the
battery when not in use (after allowing for some period of cooling).

Today for the first time in a long time, the fan did not come on when
I connected the battery. Does this sound like some sensor is going
bad and, if so, where is it located and how can I troubleshoot it? Is
there anything else I should check?

I'm not that familiar with my 944's electronics -- any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
