1. the heater valve is in the engine compartment, you probably have a
leaking core. However if you are a real optimist (I just looked at a
heater
assembly I removed from a damaged car) there are some seals that could
cause
this. If you email me off the list I'll send you a diagram that will
explain - O-ring part number 944-572-188-00, in maingroup 8, subgroup 13,
illustration 813-00. If these o-rings are bad it will do exactly what you
say is happening, and you can probably change them without dismantiling
the
whole car.
2. you need to find PET6 and also the ****sche shop manual. I have a
Haynes
manual up on e-bay right now, that is better than nothing (here's the link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300140962406
) and
I
have a spare heater core if you contact me off the list (go to
www.wbnoble.com and find my email)
3. I have a used instrument cluster with a bad chip in it - but it has the
black face you want - a bit of shuffling of parts will get you a nicer
looking cluster. While you have it open check the Odometer drive gear and
make sure it's been replaced. Don't bend the pointers when you pull them
off - be very careful. Again, contact me off the list
4. both fans should run if AC is on
5. you should have asked here for sunroof - I have the complete lifter
assembly, probably could have sold you the whole thing for 1/10th of what
mechanic charged you.
6. getting heater core out is a major major task - be prepared for a lot
of
work to get it out. If you live where heat is rarely required, just leave
the core bypassed for now while you figure out how to do it.
