Porsche windshield logo tint

by Jake77 <mcwilliams@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 13, 2008 at 01:21 AM

I'm the recent owner of a 1984 Porsche 944. I've had a number of
mechanical things corrected on the car (head gasket, new exhaust, fuel
injectors, etc.) and have done some minor cosmetic work myself (new
hatch struts, interior lights and switches). The car is now in great
shape mechanically, other than needing new motor mounts to ease
vibration at idle, and I am focusing more on the cosmetics. This
question is regarding the PORSCHE name that appears all the way across
top of the windshield and appears to be a part of the window tint.
Yet, the lower half of the letters are faded almost completely away.
So what is left is barely readable, and for my part, I'd rather not
announce to the world that "I OWN A PORSCHE" anyway. Is there a way to
remove this or am I correct in assuming that it is indeed part of the
windshield tint and my only option is to replace the whole windshield?
(an option too expensive for me at this point.) I live in Atlanta and
the sun here is intense, hence the natural fading so far. Is there any
way I can accelerate this process?:
