towing a 928('82) automatic ??

by buy.n.sell.mercedes@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Mar 9, 2006 at 10:06 PM

I need to move/tow a 928 auto this weekend. The steering is locked at
an angle (key lost) and I was going to put it on a tow dolly forward,
leaving the rear wheels rolling. Can anybody tell me, if the tranny
might suffer and how bad . I'm going a distance of about 65 miles.
Should I just go slower or is that really irrelevant. Is there a way to
disconnct the drive line given that it has a transaxle, maybe drain the
fluid or???? The reverse was already shot.
Thanks for any and all help. Alex
