Yeouch. Hope this works out for you.

I'll guess the gray sludge is from use or, more likely, overuse of 
radiator stop-leak. Might haave been working on that leak. New radiators 
are near $700! I'd be concerned because that stuff will clog the heater 
core and radiator tubes. The heater core is a real pain to replace 
requiring the whole dash to come out.

Oil leaks into the "V" are really common. I'd clean it and keep an eye 
on it.

Some leather dyes are sprayed on so maybe a decent attempt.

Brake master or clutch master? The brake master isn't hard but is pricey.

The clutch master is hard to get to. Some cut an access hole through the 
engine wall. Another approach is to rebuild it in place from the inside 
of the car. Do the blue hose at the same time.
