   On many units in our cars, whether it were the lobe sense model or 
the insert with the collar over the cam, we were advised to turn the key 
on and  wait 4-5 seconds before cranking the engine.  Something about 
the circuit absorbing voltage.  I've used mine for 3+ years.. over 15K 
miles and no problems  (knock on wood)
