It's just down to what you want really. I disagree with your views
about being a "trinket seeker" for buying a great new car rather than
a great older one. An E Type has more style, but your Golf will
probably out-run and out-handle it.

The DB9 gets great reviews and I have not heard of reliability
problems. Make sure you like the gear change - some don't. Personally,
I think it is one of the best-looking cars ever made. The Bentley gets
rather more mixed reviews, but at these prices it is very much down to
personal preferences of the reviewers. Try them and go for the one
that you feel you want to get straight back into.
