After replacing timing belt, loud whining noise from engine

Thanks for all the tips.

I have never done a timing belt before. I saw someone do one on my
Corolla Twin Cam about 17 years ago and figured I would never attempt it.

Got all the marks lined up, everything back in place, and because of lack
of parts (no Suby dealer close by) had to, er, 'improvise' a little
bit..it all works, but...

When I got things put back together enough to start the engine for a test,
it started and ran smooth, but there was a strange, loud whining noise
from the engine. I thought, maybe a tensioner? Timing belts too tight?
Something I put in place and forgot...

Whoever told me to hold the flywheel with a large screwdriver, thanks! It
worked like a charm.

BUT YOU FORGOT TO TELL ME TO TAKE IT OUT!!! ;)

Again, thanks. It works great, and is running on all 4 cylinders!
