  Oh yeah - We had a few Pontiacs that would do it in a heartbeat, a
'67 Bonneville Convertible and a '70 Grand Prix 2-door - the 460 with
a Quadrajet, they were wondrous little beasts that could light the
tires on the freeway on demand if you hammered the Flush Valve.

  And if you rolled the power on, it literally jumped up and pulled
for all it was worth.  I swear they were lifting the left front tire
from chassis torque like a Funny Car.

  Wonderful cars - That is, till you had to go fill the tank...

  And till I got my first speeding ticket.  I drive with Nature's
Cruise Control (listening to the engine note to hold RPM's steady) and
those buggers both would gallop 20 MPH into the red and the revs would
only change 100 rpm.  This was long before lockup torque converters.
