I had the same thing on my `02 4 cyl. Camry......... A red check
engine light.

Toyota dealer told me it was the vacuum switch on the charcoal
canister.

They said it could be repaired for $650.00 Canadian.

I said for a vacuum switch??Forget it.

In any case the code was cleared but came on several days later again.

So I called around to several dealers and two gave me a price of
around $140.00 Canadian + taxes

Almost a year later,I had it done for that price and have had NO
trouble light come on since .

But FIRST I got a written estimate as to the total cost including
taxes, on their letter head.

That way if the job was way over the estimate I`m only required to pay
10% more by law.

I would never have had it done in any case , but was told that you
need it to work to pass the emisssions test.
