i found that oil underspray by Krown or or any reputable underspray
firm will definitely protect the undercarriage and related components
from rusting in a salt environment.
I live in Ontario, Canada and salt is mandatory here in the winter.I
have had only one brake line corrode and that was before I used any
under-oil spray.on a `78 Ford station wagon.
At that time I couldnt afford the oil spray so what I did was dilute
my used motor oil with Varsol and put it into an insect pump type
sprayer and crawled under the vehicle and sprayed everything , also
inside the doors and rocker panels .Some rust had already started but
I did the body work , sprayed the oil and the rust stopped
immedialtely.
After THAT? I never had a problem with rust
It was a messy job but it worked.
The commercial ones recommend once a year under spray , But I have
gone two years without spraying.without any rust indications that I
could see.
If you want to keep a car for a long time and you live in a salt-rust
belt area ? this is the way to go.
