I know the stuff your talking about .I beieve it was a tar like
substance that was applied to the underside of the vehicle. We had it
here too, in Ontario.
The problem with this tar undercoating was that when it hardened iit
cracked and let salt and moisture in, which rusted out the sheet
metal......
It was eventaully banned here in Ontario.
The oil underspray is NOT like that at all ~!!!!!! It is an OIL
spray.it nrever hardens and is designed to flow into all the crevices
of the sheet work.
It DOES work~!!!!!!!!! Oil as you know protects firearms from the
ravages of the weather.
It does the same with cars . As I stated previously I used motor oil
thinned with Varsol and applied with a pump insect sprayer when I
couldnt afford a commercial apllication.
When I sold that Ford , It had no rust on it anywhere .
I did the a[pplication about once year in the fall.
oil undercoating SHOULD BE DONE ONCE A YEAR , but I have done it every
second year without any rusting problems...
This is Not to be construed as UNDERCOATING , it is NOT undercoating ,
it is a protective film of oil on all the sheet metal under , in the
doors, fenders ,and rocker panels.
I had an `86 accord with 350,000 on it and absolutely no rust. I would
still have that car if some 72 year old retard hadnt rear-ended it and
totaled it.
I now have an `02 Camry and that car is like new ,top and bottom.with
only 135,000 on it.
AND IT DOES WORK~!!!!
