Re: 91 Probe GT Turbo Oil Question

by but_I_dont_like_spam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim J) Sep 8, 2003 at 04:43 PM

I had a 1990 Probe GT which I bought new and kept for 13 years/115,000
miles. It still ran like new and used no oil between changes. After it was

broken in, I used nothing but Mobil 1 synthetic oil, both 10W-30 and
later,
when Ford changed their recommendation, 5W-30.

As long as your Probe is not burning oil, a good 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic

like Mobil 1 would be the best for the turbo bearings. If you are having
to
add a quart or more between oil changes, then you might want to use 20W-50

(and forget synthetic, because your engine is already too worn to benefit
from the extra expense).
