According to the Spectra catalog;
FG69A is correct for a 5/16" line, FG69B is correct for a 3/8"
line.

If they both put the pick up and float in the same place, the
difference probably has to do with the EVAP venting inside the
tank.

FYI, a low reading gauge can be caused by a bad ground to the
sending unit. There would have been a jumper strap that clipped
on in between the pipe (tubing) exiting the sending unit and the
pipe (tubing) attached to the chassis, 37 years doing its
thing....
