My 2 cents. Sorry if this is too long!
There's a great phrase that absolutely rules the classic car world. The
phrase is "Perceived value" and it's why the Barrett Jackson organization
is
able to command such a high price for the vehicles that roll across their
block.
Now, everyone with a Cuda or Challenger in their garage believes they have
a
gold mine under all those cobwebs and "surface" rust.
Your prospective purchase is a 440 4spd clone and the seller has been
honest
with you about that fact BUT you could have verified it yourself with the
vin. Personally I couldn't care less that it's a clone. MY concern is how
WELL the work was done. You say the car is rust free but it has a poor
paint
job that could be hiding bondo and plenty of rust.
For 25K you deserve to have all your questions answered. Look the car over
closely. Look at the upholstery. How thick is the vinyl. Who did the work?
The more you know about the car, the more you'll know it it's worth the
asking price to YOU.
A good paint job starts at around 3k and goes up quickly with extensive
repair/prep work.
Sorry it's not a yes or know answer LOL
