Re: Fuel Sending Unit

I have a 96 Chevy Tahoe with 116,000 miles on it. One thing that has
always bothered me since I bought the car last October is the gas
guage. When I accelerate, the gas guage moves up and when I brake it
goes down. It's getting to be like a quarter of a tank each time. When
the car is off, it moves back up again. I know that some movement is
normal, but is this much normal? The fuel pump was replaced at 96,000
miles. My uncle thinks that I should replace my sending unit, and that
will make the gauge dead on accurate. I ran out of gas last week, and
when I was waiting around for my friend to bring me some gas, the
gauge moved back up to 1/4 of a tank. And I know it didn't have that
if i ran out of gas... Do you have any suggestions? I would really
need to get this taken care of because I don't want to have to rely on
the odometer full time. I would like a gas gauge that works properly.
Thank you.
