 I have a Dart with a built 340 & a 727 manuel ****ft. When we first put
the
engine in the car we used 904 transmissions from the junk yard my friend
owned. We shredded four 904's... tranmissions parts would literally be
scattered all over the road & we would have to ride back home to the
junkyard on the tiltbed. Then a wrecked car came in with a small block 727

and we installed a manuel ****ft valve body. That was 2 years ago and the
727
is still holding up but did create two new problems:
1. We started ripping out motor mounts.
2. People laugh at us when we try to creep through stop & go town traffic

because the tranny ****ft is so hard that everyone in the car.gets jerked
back into the seats.

A Lady-friend of mine once borrowed the car to go grocery shopping while
I
worked on hers, & swears she will never drive it again. "What's wrong with

your car! You can't even touch the gas peddle without that thing squealing

the tires & kicking sideway! I'll never drive that thing again! Look, my
groceries are all over the floor!"
My cousin-in-law has a Dart with a 360 & nitrous bottle. He can still
beat
me at the Drag-strip. His car is set-up for racing, though.... watching
him
blast off at the line sort of reminds me of a frog getting ready to jump
because the whole car just rises up into the air. We went to race at one
place & they barred us both after one pass: "Guys, you are just going to
fast for the amount of safety equipment you have in those cars (none).
Sorry
but we just can't let you run here anymore today."
Usually we feel like Aliens from Mars when we arrive at the drag-strips
because we have the only Mopars there... admittedly both cars look like
they
just came out of a junkyard, but hey, they both DID just come out of a
junkyard & are an awful lot of fun to beat around in. I'm thinking about
taking my 340 out & parking it in the corner of the garage, replacing it
with a 360 simply because I don't want to blow the pricey little 340 up. I

can still find 360's & really wouldn't feel bad about scattering one, but
once the 340 scatters it could be gone for good.
