The original mini starters were made by Nipondenso and are a very high
quality part. About the only problem you'll ever have is wear on the
solenoid contacts. If you can find a local rebuild shop that will sell
them or install them for you you should never have to buy another
starter. There are later mini starters without the pilot on the nose,
but those aren't as good for our stuff which uses the nose to accurately
locate the starter.
Like Bryan wrote about on ignition; check the pickup coil. If it's good
buy a new ignition module. If you can find Standard Motor Products the
LX101 is better than most other replacements. Mopar Orange boxes are
crap.
