I know this a jeep question , but I know no better men with wrenches then
mopar men. And since jeep is kinda a mopar now it might apply?
We have a new "last nov" 07 liberty .
it has an auto trans with the basic 4x4 .
my question is about the noise we get from this transmission. the best way
I
can describe it would be to imagin the sound from a bad u-joint , but from
the transmission. and it is some times harsh and some times soft. it
happens
when you are just about to come to a compleat stop and lets say the light
goes from red to green , so you accelrate . there is often a pause and
then
it shifts into gear. resulting in a loud or soft thud.
it also happens when slowing down to make a turn and you are suddenly free
to go , the engine wants to go but the trans is not doing anything till it
thuds into gear.
My take on it, is that there is to much play in the low gear band or the
valve body has a sticking valve ? but I have not been inside a
transmission
since oh around 1983 . so I do not know how they are built or if there
are
even bands in them now ?
The dealers answer was that it was computer controlled and was learning
how
we drive , and would soon not be happening .
I went back after 1000 miles with the same complaint and told them I must
have a slow learner.
now I am given for answers
A; It is the nature of the beast
and
B; I am makeing it do it !
well I feel from all the people we have had in it by there reaction as
well
as mine this is wrong. and I should not be able to make it happen !
pleaseeee help me . I am sorry for not doing this post correctly or
anything
els I may have done wrong here , it is my first post and I need help.
