It has been for a while, but maybe not for too much longer, unfortunately.

Sounds like the dealer is giving you the ol' run-around.  Find out the 
name of the "district service manager" and contact him or her ASAP.

P.S. (to others)  Pre-AMC buyout, didn't AMC use Mopar Torqueflites? 
How about manual transmissions?
