Starting a '69 Bee

by "tranch" <ItsMe@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 25, 2008 at 01:31 AM

I've a friend with a '69 Super Bee that hasn't been started in a year,
maybe 2. The car was just parked in the garage and nothing was done to
store
it for this period of time. I'll be tuning the car this spring and,
hopefully, getting it running again, but before I do I thought I'd get
some
help from you guys here on the board. What would you do to start this
engine
to make sure it doesn't get damaged?

It'll be getting all new plugs, points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires
and
a carb rebuild, All the fluids will be drained and replaced, and I plan to

back flush the cooling system and maybe remove the radiator and have it
boiled out. Thought I'd start out by pulling all the plugs and squirting
some oil into the cylinders then turn the engine over by turning the crank

shaft with a big socket and wrench. Any other suggestions, comments etc?
