The post about stroking a 360 reminded me of an idea I had years ago when I
didn't have the money to do it... which was probably a good thing.
The plan was too stroke out a 360 ( I believe the target CID from the
HOTROD
magizine was 396???) and then add a Paxton SuperCharger. I'm not sure
Paxton even had a SuperCharger for Mopars back then, but now they do

I have the perfect little Swinger for doing something like that now just
for
the fun of driving it. The '72 Swinger was originally a slant-six car that
someone converted to a 340 and never finished after installing the
balanced/blueprint 340... they went through 7 junkyard trannies while
playing around with the car before losing interest. I bought the car for
the
340 and because it just looked so different with the hood skin of a '72
Dodge Challenger grafted on to it (big air-grabber scoop instead of the
dual
side scoops)... it's one of those cars that everyone looks at and says
'What
kind of car is that?!?' The thing is so ugly that it's beautiful. The
interior of the car is junk (green bench seat, home to resident chipmunks
for last 10 years or so) and the paint is totally faded, chipped and just
plain missing (it was two-tone lime green top/bottom, black in middle,
black
hood). The body & frame are still solid and it's time to do something with
the car. Until today I was thinking about a beefed up 360 with a nitrous
bottle for Sundays at the local drag-strip, but now maybe a SuperCharged
roadracer might be interesting to play around with on Saturdays??? (I can
still use the Duster for Sundays at the strip). Anyone in here ever play
around with anything like that? (I believe I still might even have a
Dart/Swinger center ****ft console hanging on the garage wall somewhere).
And
yes, we do have a tiltbed to 'bring the boys back home' when things go
wrong... the idea is to have fun here in a mean little machine (a
disposable, something different, runner ''til she busts machine... fun).
