I'm familiar with that neck of the woods. Haven't been to the
Toad and Turtle, but I'm always up for wings and beer and good
conversation.

I am very fortunate, I don't mess with the diesels. When I first started
in
the trade, I did nothing but diesel work for the first five years. This
was
the infamous Olds diesel. When I moved on from that dealer****p, I made
it a rule that I never told any prospective employer that I had "any"
knowledge of diesels at all. So far it's worked out quite well. The
fellow
beside me loves working on the Duramax's...and he's welcome to them.
He makes no hours....but he's the "top gun". Then again, he doesn't
work on Cadillac Northstars, but I quite happily work on those beasts.
Different strokes I guess. But you can make money on the Northstar.

GM is still quite reasonable with their warranty times. Of course, we
do see times creep downwards with certain ops. Right now, intake
gaskets on the 3100/3400 engines is at an epidemic level, and I
suspect that the General is watching the elapsed hours on the
work orders and is noticing that we are doubling and tripling
our times even on warranty. So those times have been going
down. But overall, I'd say that GM warranty times are in much
better shape then the problems that I know you Ford techs are
facing. I hope that problem gets resolved in a fair manner to
the techs.
