Re: Larsen 5/8 wave mobile antenna ??

I have a Larson two meter 5/8 wave NLA mount that I purchased about 40
years 
ago. It has been mounted on many different vehicles that I have owned over

the last forty years. The design of the matching coil is excellent. The
coil 
is low loss due to the size and materials of the conductor. The coil is 
constructed as a low pass filter, which eliminates most of the
interference 
from high level UHF signals that are found in large cities. The 
encapsulation of the coil has never cracked or failed. This is the best 
working two meter mobile antenna I have ever owned.

I currently own a Workman NMO two meter mobile antenna, but it does not
work 
as well as my old Larsen. Larsen (the man) has been gone for sometime, and

the antenna business was sold to Radiall. I do not know anything about
their 
version of the antenna, other than re****ts I have heard from those that
use 
them. I have not heard any complaints about the performance or quality of 
construction of the current generation of Larsen antennas.
