OK, that helps a lot.

Unless DC decided it was too easy so their mechanics didn't make enough
money changing it, it is located under the hood on the passenger side
Like our 88's was. There are 3 bolts I believe holding it in.

The plug and socket about 8" away from the motor are known to get bad
connections that can act like your symptoms. A close inspection there
is in order. We bought a new motor for your symptoms that crapped out
really soon again, then I found the bad connection. I bypassed the plug
and socket by directly wiring the motor in. If it died again, I would
have had to do another solder job, but it didn't.

If something like the brushes are worn out or sticking in the cold, a
thump with a rubber mallet on the motor's case should start it up in the
cold.

The switches are also known to fail. They can be bought independently
from the whole cluster for about $15.00. You just have to convince the
parts guy to look for it, he will want to $ell you the cluster....

The switches usually show melt damage when they fail though so again a
visual inspection might be in order. They also will feel hot when bad
like that.

Hope some of this helps,

Mike
