Add AC to a 97 wrangler?

So, I've got a decent deal I'm considering on a wrangler, and the 
biggest sticking point is the lack on AC. If I get it, then decide in 
August that i just can't stand it, is it really a viable option to add 
AC later? I have heard we're talking $1200-1400 to have it done.

Anyone have experience or advice?
